Explore Oslo - Asker Museum

This time we are venturing out of town to “Kunstnerdalen” or Artist’s valley in Hvalstad where you will find Asker Museum.

The main attractions are the beautiful and unique homes of artists Tilla and Otto Valstad and writers Hulda and Arne Garborg. Their homes are surrounded by an enchanting barokk inspired garden, unusual animal sculptures and a feeling of stepping back in time…..

The tour will take approx. one hour and afterwards there is a café where we can have a cup of coffee or a waffle (or two).  The ticket price will not be more than 100 NOK depending on how many come along.  IWC will cover the rest of the cost.

Please let Joan know if you would like to attend by Wednesday 10th June.

Address:         Otto Valstadsvei 19, 1395 Hvalstad

Transport

Train: L1 to Hvalstad station, and walk to the museum in approx. 15 min.

Bus: 270 from Fornebu/Sandvika bus terminal or Asker train station to the bus stop "Asker museum".

Free parking by the museum

Norwegian course for beginners

For those who have no or little prior knowledge of Norwegian.

The course will be combined with an introduction to Norwegian culture, lifestyle, habits, traditions, etc. By the end of the course, you’ll be able to have a basic conversation in Norwegian.

We do not use books, but I distribute copies of simple texts accompanied by the relevant grammatical rules in English. Just bring pen and paper, lots of curiosity and good mood!

Explore Oslo - Gaustad Hospital

Explore Oslo - Gaustad Hospital

Gaustad Hospital in Oslo

Founded in 1855, it is Norway's oldest purpose-built psychiatric hospital.

The cost will be 50 NOK per person. The plan is to visit the small museum, hear the story and walk around the area (it's very pretty). We are not going to go into the buildings, as it is still a hospital.

The Old Gaustad hospital is next to Rikshospitalet, and can be easily reached by Bus Nr. 40 from Skoyen. There is also parking on site.

Let's hope for good weather! It would be great to have 10 people. Let Andrea know whether you will be attending by this Thursday 30 April.
