Our Groups

We have ten very friendly groups that schedule their events during the weekdays. In general, IWC only has a small number of activities that are organized in the evenings.  Members are always welcome to organize and start activities and groups!

To participate in any of the IWC activities, you must be up-to-date with member fees.

Norwegian for Beginners

A new, and very popular group this year. We meet every Monday at 11:00 AM for one hour to learn and improve our Norwegian language skills. Members are very welcome to join us next time. (No book needed.)

Book Group

As a group, we choose our next book from a variety of genres.  Then we meet monthly on the first Friday (this has moved from Thursdays) of each month to discuss the book we have read.  We meet in local cafes, restaurants, or member's homes to discuss the book.

Explore Oslo 1.jpg

Explore Oslo

Come along to visit Oslo, meet with friends, and have fun. Examples include tours of the Oslo Opera House, Vigeland Sculpture Park, National Galleries, Aass Brewery, and Freia Chocolate factory; even the local grocery store for those who are new to Norway. We pay for ourselves (lunch, traveling costs, entrance fees, etc.) and split any costs for guides, when applicable. Visit many interesting places in and around Oslo. Meets every 4-6 weeks, day varies.

Knitting & Craft Group

Think it’s just for old ladies? Think again. Come along for a knit and a natter and maybe make something while you’re at it. All levels welcome!  Bring your knitting or other handwork. Meet in members' homes or coffee shops. Meet the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month at 10:30 AM.

Hiking 2.jpg

Walking & HIKING Group

The Walking/Hiking Group will alternate between easy walks and hikes. The main aim is to get people out and to socialize. We plan to walk each Tuesday, even in the winter as there are plenty of cleared paths to walk on! Every week the group leaders will pick a walk from UT.NO and group members can decide if they would like to join us in that walk or not.

The walking group is moving to Thursdays.

This Chinese tile game, played around the world, helps keep the brain sharp. It involves collecting tiles to complete sets. Beginners and advanced players are welcome. We will help teach you at the start. No prior knowledge of Mahjong is needed.  We have space for new members and it is a very friendly, welcoming group of ladies! We meet every Wednesday from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM and meet at members' homes. Welcome!
